Release Date:
April 1998
Description:
The operating system produces an error when the network cable is
detached, or the PC Card is stopped and ejected.
Windows NT - "KMODE
Exception Error"
Windows 95 - "Exception 06, or 0D"
Resolution:
This issue is not specific to any Compaq platform or product line. The
NDIS specification requires that the network driver report the status of
the network cable to the operating system. When these conditions are
reported, the operating system produces an error.
Madge has
incorporated a solution into their driver. Modify the driver's properties
to enable this feature:
(1) Right-click on the Network Neighborhood icon.
(2) Select Properties.
(3) Double-click on the Madge Card.
(3) Select the Advanced tab.
(4) Change the "Warn if no lobe cable" value to "NO".
Note: This solution is specific to the Madge driver. Some PC Cards
may not provide support for this feature. If this feature is not an
option, users should refrain from detaching the NIC cable, or stopping and
ejecting the PC Card while the system is in use.
