PD-CD Drive Error During Windows NT Boot Up
Date Originated: November 1996
Product(s) Affected: Desktops, Portables, and Servers
Symptom(s): The following error message will be generated
if the Arcada Optical Driver (SCSIOPT.SYS) is loaded when starting Windows
NT 3.x or 4.x, and the PD disk is not in the PD-CD drive.
"System Process - Drive Not Ready. The drive is not ready for use;
its door may be open. Please check drive D, and make sure that a disk is
inserted and that the drive door is closed."
The error message will also occur if the Arcada Optical Driver is
loaded under Windows NT 3.x, and any of the following software products
are launched:
- NT Disk Administrator
- NT Performance Monitor
- MS Office 7.0
- COMPASS 3.02
Suggestion(s): The following solutions provide varying
levels of resolution to this issue.
- To eliminate the error message, have the PD disk in the PD-CD drive
when loading Windows NT versions 3.x to 4.x and when launching any
of the software listed above under Windows NT version 3.x.
- To minimize error message generation, upgrade to Windows NT version
4.x. The error message will appear only after Logon.
- Choose "Abort" or "Ignore" when the error message appears. This will
not affect the PD-CD drive operation.
